Today, JoAnn and I are off to a 2 day Pond & Water Feature event featuring Koi Vet, Dr. Erik Johnson, as well as several other speakers in the water gardening industry. We learn about koi fish health and important steps to take when transitioning fish from the cold, brutal winter months into the spring when they are most susceptible to parasites and bacterial infections.

As with any of these events that we attend, it is also about team building and fun with our water feature business!

My name is Jaak Harju from Atlantis Water Gardens and my personal vlogging experience (25 episodes in) has been a challenge mostly due to the fact that I’ve been using my iPhone X with the DJI Osmo Mobile gimbal. It has worked well at times, but I find the whole setup to be too cumbersome with having to unlock the phone, open the app, turn on the gimbal and sync it all. Then I actually have to start filming and the use of an external mic is quite difficult with this setup as well.

I just purchased the Canon M6 Vloggers package from Amazon with a few other pieces to make it work well on my bendy tri-pod. Today I set it up for the first time and give you my feedback so far!

Robert Špiler in Tjaša Štruc sta po zaključenem študiju leta 2013, s polno glavo idej in mladostne energije, na gozdni jasi sestavila čudovito malo hiško ter poleg vzpostavila velik vrt. Pri vsega 22. letih sta začela živeti svoje preprosto življenje in odkrivati lepote Narave.

Združila sta Tjašino akademsko znanje (mag. biologije in ekologije) ter večletno Robertovo prakso dela na vrtovih po Sloveniji. Po mnogo uspešnih in tudi zgrešenih vrtnih poizkusih, so ostala le najboljša spoznanja – akademska, praktična, družinska, permakulturna in biodinamična, ki jih danes predajata naprej. Na svojem vrtu uporabljata predvsem kompostno zastirko v kombinaciji z ostalimi organskimi materiali, ki zaščitijo zemljo in imitirajo pogoje v Naravi. Tako dosežeta univerzalno rodovitna tla, mnogo manj pleveli in za 95% manj zalivanja; vse to brez prekopavanja ali obračanja zemlje. Prelepo, da bi bilo res? Ničesar ne skrivata, njuno delo, slike, objave, posnetki so dovolj zgovorni sami zase. Najbolje, da grete kar sami pogledat na kakšno izmed delavnic. Starejše vrtnarke in kmetje ob pogledu na zemljo vidijo zgolj trpljenje in delo. Robert vidi vrtnarjenje kot nekaj lahkotnega, kreativnega in sproščujočega, Tjaša pa kot vir okusne hrane, ki jo pridela z užitkom. Ob sodelovanju z Naravo imata tudi veliko razlogov za praznovanje in veselje, ter seveda obilje domačih pridelkov. Mnogi so z njuno pomočjo že občutili veliko čudovitih trenutkov vrtnarjenja in ti božanski občutki so na voljo tudi tebi.

Ljubezen do sonaravnega vrtnarjenja želita približati mladim in vsem vrtnarjem poenostaviti vrtnarjenje.

Although our allotment field is a stunning place to be, it also has a hidden flaw — plastic litter. Unintentionally allotment gardeners are contributing to plastic pollution by reusing plastic items in the garden. Milk bottle cloches, cheap plastic netting, plastic bags, plastic plant markets, pots, trays, the list goes on.

Plastic never breaks down, it only breaks up into smaller and smaller pieces. These pieces either end up in the soil or get into our water and ocean systems.

This is a look at some of the rubbish we have issues with in our allotment and ways we’re looking at to find a solution.

VLOG – 023

At Atlantis Water Gardens, we consider ourselves artists who work with boulders, water and excavators as our paint & brush to transform our palette of earth into a living sculpture that fits the landscape surround. An enormous amount of trust is required in the contractor/client relationship when choosing a water feature artist to recreate the mental picture that was painted in the initial meeting. Using previous work as a guideline of what can be expected is a leap of faith required when commissioning an artist to create a one-off work of art for you.

I know first hand about this experience, from both sides, as today I get to pick up my Kenworth T300 single axle hooklift from Bert Graphix in Riverdale, NJ. I’ve had Bert work his magic on several of our trucks and machines over the years and I’ve reached a comfort level with him to give him just a few parameters (like our name!) to work with and turn him loose to do what he does best! He doesn’t disappoint!
