GROW ALLAMANDA PLANT EASILY AT HOME FROM THESE SIMPLE CARE TIPS..:)
Allamanda plant is a perennial flowering vine noted for its leathery, dark green foliage and yellow, trumpet-shaped flowers. It is grown as a potted plant or landscape ornamental.

SUNLIGHT:
A lover of sun, it needs lots of sunshine, so if possible, mimic nature and shade the plant but give the tips lots of sunshine.to maintain a southern exposure, which will provide an appropriately bright light level.
TRAINING:-
Train the allamanda vine against the trellis as soon as it is tall enough to reach it. Spread the vines across the trellis and twist them gently around the supports to encourage vertical and horizontal growth. Do not use ties to secure the stems because it may cause strangulation.
MULCHING:-
Spread a 2-inch-thick layer of lightweight organic mulch around the base of the allamanda vine to conserve soil moisture and discourage competitive weed growth. Leave a 2-inch gap between the mulch and the vine’s trunk to allow moisture to evaporate from the soil. Replace the mulch each spring.
WATERING:-
Water the allamanda vine twice weekly to a 1-inch depth during summer. Let the soil surface dry out completely between waterings. Decrease water by half during winter and withhold all water during periods of wet, rainy or cold weather.
FERTILIZER:-
Feed the allamanda vine once weekly during the growing season, from spring until late summer. Dissolve 1/2 teaspoon of general-purpose, 10-10-10 fertilizer in 1 gallon of water. Replace one weekly watering with the fertilizer solution, applying the fertilizer solution to moist soil to prevent root burn.
PRUNING:-
Prune the allamanda vine in late winter or early spring to control its size and improve its appearance. Remove up to half the stem height. Prune out any crossed branches to improve air circulation among the interior branches, which will help prevent fungal infections in the foliage. Wear gloves when working with allamanda vines.
IRON DEFICIENCY:-
Watch for signs of iron chlorosis such as yellow-veined foliage and a general lack of vigor. Treat chlorotic allamanda vines with a commercially prepared iron chelate foliar spray. Spray the foliage monthly during the growing season and discontinue use if blackened leaves develop.
PESTS/DISEASE:-
Watch for signs of insect pests such as mites, mealybugs and scales. Symptoms include cottony matter on the twigs, damaged leaves and stem die-back. Treat insect infestations with a liberal application of insecticidal soap every seven to 10 days until the insects are gone.
9WINTER CARE:-
Protect allamanda vines from the cold if a frost is forecast. Cover the plant with burlap and keep the soil moist to increase radiant warmth from the ground. Move container-grown allamanda vines under a porch or to a warm, bright room indoors until all frost danger has passed.

GROW MUSSAENDA PLANTS IN POTS AND KNOW HOW TO TAKE CARE OF THIS PLANT FOR MAXIMUM BLOOOMS…:)
DAIZZ’S TIPS:- Mussaenda bushes are evergreens plants that bloom from spring to fall in mild-winter areas. The bloom colors can be yellow, red or creamy white with red, white or pink bracts or sepals surrounding the flowers.
SUNLIGHT/LOCATION:-
Find a planting site for the Mussaenda where it will be exposed to direct sunlight at least six hours each day. Plant it where it will receive morning or evening direct sun with shade during the hottest parts of the day for brighter bloom colors.
SOIL:-
Test the soil for pH, organic matter and nutrient levels. Make sure the soil has an acidic pH below 7. Add sulfur to alkaline soil with a pH above 7 to make it more acid. Add organic matter such as compost or leaf mold to the soil to improve the texture and nutrient levels if needed. Add perlite to improve drainage if the soil tends to drain slowly. Mix the amendments into the soil thoroughly.
POTTING:-
Dig a planting hole twice the diameter of the Mussaenda root mass with a dirt shovel in late winter. Plant it at the same depth it was growing previously. Place the Mussaenda roots into the hole and backfill with the soil that was removed from the hole. Water it generously to settle the dirt around the roots. Add more backfill soil on top if it settles below the surrounding ground level.
MULCHING:-
Spread shredded bark mulch around the Mussaenda bush to a depth of 3 inches. Keep the mulch 3 inches away from the bush stems. Water the bush once or twice per week or as often as necessary to keep the soil moist but not muddy.
FERTILIZER:-
Sprinkle slow-release balanced complete fertilizer granules around the bush six to eight weeks after planting, when it begins to grow new leaves.

Ljubezen do sonaravnega vrtnarjenja želita približati mladim in vsem vrtnarjem poenostaviti vrtnarjenje.

One month travelling through Portugal including visits to Lisbon, the fairy tale town of Sintra, seeing dolphins in the Atlantic, touring a cork tree farm, and being more than a little creeped out by the Chapel of Bones.

We took four weeks to do this trip staying in hostels and Airbnbs and using public transport and buses to get around. I’ll work out our final expenses and share them soon!

If you’re planning on doing a similar trip or have visited any of the places I’d love to hear from you!

Please leave me comments or questions below.

Ixora is a tropical to semi-tropical evergreen shrub. The plant is often grown as an annual in temperate and cooler climates. Ixora shrubs are known for their large corymbs of bright florets. The large flower clusters come in red, orange, yellow and pink, and it’s also known as jungle flame and flame of the woods. Minimal maintenance is needed when growing an Ixora bush.

SUNLIGHT/LOCATION:-
Ixora is a sun-loving plant. While it tolerates some shade, bright sunlight brings out vibrant colors and more prolific blooming. However, in hot climates, the shrub benefits from light shade during the hottest part of the afternoon.

DAIZZ’S TIPS:-

WATERING:-
Water Ixora as needed to keep the soil evenly moist, but not muddy. Although the plant prefers moist soil, it may rot in excessively soggy soil. Water the shrub sparingly during the winter months.

FERTILIZER:-
Feed Ixora in early spring, using an acidic fertilizer formulated for Ixora, azalea and gardenias, which has a ratio such as 4-8-8, along with minor elements that are beneficial. Repeat in midsummer and autumn. Acidic fertilizer is especially important if the foliage takes on a yellowish cast, indicating a magnesium deficiency caused by improper soil pH. Apply the fertilizer according to label specifications, then water deeply.

MULCHING:-
Spread at least 3 to 4 inches of organic mulch such as pine needles, compost, shredded leaves or bark chips, on the soil around the Ixora plant to conserve soil moisture and help maintain a proper acidic soil pH. In spring, remove the mulch along with the top crust of soil. Replace the removed mulch and soil with fresh mulch.

PRUNING:-
Prune Ixora after blooming slows in late autumn or anytime the shrub looks untidy. Prune each shoot down to just one bud or prune the shrub as needed to create the size and shape desired. Izora shrubs tolerate pruning well and can be trimmed back by several inches without harm. However, many gardeners prefer to leave the shrub unsheared for a more natural appearance.

PESTS/DISEASE:-
Protect Ixora from aphids and scales. Aphids are tiny, green insects that congregate at joints of the leaves and stems or the undersides of the leaves. Scales are hard-shelled insects that give the foliage a waxy appearance. Regular application of an insecticidal soap spray or neem oil usually helps to control both pests.
